Democratic Candidate 97th District
After much discussion with family and close friends, I’ve decided to form a committee to explore the possibility of running as a Democrat for the 97th District of the Michigan House of Representatives.
This decision is not taken lightly. The needs of my patients and practice are of the upmost importance to me, but I feel that it is time to make Lansing more responsive to the needs of Central Michigan. For too long we have seen the Republican run State of Michigan (House/Senate/Gov/AG) run roughshod over the wants and needs of the people and businesses of our state. We need to break their hold, and I hope in some way to make a contribution to that effort.
I grew up in Michigan, went to Gobles High School and Michigan State. I worked my way through school as a Paramedic in Lansing. Through education and opportunity I was able to fulfill my life’s ambition and attend medical school in Florida. After residency in Ohio, I practiced internal medicine in SC, Alaska and Michigan.
There have been some hard times in my life. I’ve built businesses and lost them, only to rebuild another. I founded what is Denali Healthcare in 2010, and since then have worked with those suffering chronic pain and addiction. I’ve been called a leading advocate for alternative medicine in pain management and addiction and written extensively on the subject. I’ve also been involved in legislation on the state level in that field, and have served as a court expert witness.
I hope to address the areas of Healthcare, Justice Reform, Michigan’s Economy and Education if you choose to send me to Lansing. This is my first run for office, I don’t claim to be perfect or know all the answers. But I’ll passionately speak for you, address the issues I mentioned, and I’ll be there to VOTE.
My career as a doctor is based on listening to people, assessing their problems and offering solutions. If elected I will bring that same philosophy to my service in Lansing.
